Good things come in 3s! I did a 3 day experiment. CHECK IT!

Do you ever feel like you need to just press the RESTART button? What about the EASY button? Even better, what about the "EASY RESTART" button? What if there were such a thing? What if I told you that there IS such a thing and that I pressed that button 3 days in a row? The result is: I feel freaking INCREDIBLE! I needed to do something to jumpstart my mojo again. Why? Well, I went through a phase that went something like this (let's pick a typical Wednesday):

  • My alarm pulls me from my REM phase of shut eye at 6 a.m. to train a client after getting maybe 6 hours of sleep (if I was lucky). It's quite a challenge plowing through 57-157 emails every night after a full day of fitness. BAM!
  • On my way out the door I would grab something quick and easy to munch on while I drove to my first destination --> my 61 year old client who has been training with me at 7 a.m. (Tuesday - Friday) for the past 3 years. I'm not a morning person (I never have been and prolly never will be) so it's interesting that I've created that time slot for myself to endure). What I won't do for a committed client!
  • After I finish sculpting the bionic body of my favorite client, I jam to Runyon Canyon for a 9 a.m. Mission with my amazing team of Agents.
  • Post Mission I snack on a little something in my ride before I start training my next client, Mason Musso. I have about 57 minutes to regroup before I start hiking Runyon AGAIN with Mason at 11.
  • Post Mason, I jam to BODYFACTORY for a smoothie with glutamine to refuel my bod after 2 straight hours of fitness.
  • Out comes the laptop to attack as many emails as possible so I won't have to do ALL of them at night. That way I can attempt to be in bed before midnight.
  • In come the phone calls, text messages, tweets, FB messages, and some more emails. PLOW, PLOW, PLOW before my meeting!
  • Off to The Veggie Grill for a biz meeting (which I set up to work with my eating schedule of every few hours). I scheduled my lunch meeting at 3 so I can start eating by 3:15ish and be done by 4 to get to my 4:30 client in Beverly Hills. For the last year or so, I would rarely go to The Veggie Grill without ordering a side order of sweet potato fries. Call it my vice. I call it my addiction.
  • 5:30 hits and I'm off to West LA to teach SPIN at The Sports Club LA at 6:15. I aim to be there by 6 p.m. so I can enter the room with grace. Not a fan of rushing (even though my Wednesdays are all about that, it seems).
  • After an hour of sprints, intervals, hills, sweating, screaming, smiling, and praising my students for keeping up with their leader... we stretch and then I allow myself about 20 minutes of nurturing relationships with my students. They all wanna chat, which is awesome, but my stomach is growling.
  • 7:45 approaches and I figure I should eat at The SCLA instead of waiting until I get home. I'm a fan of eating earlier rather than later. Turkey meatballs in a marinara sauce with a heaping side of veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots galore). If I was just wanting to be home, I'd simply order a large protein smoothie and suckle it on my way home while my endorphins found their way back into my body.
  • HOME. SHOWER. LAUNDRY. COMPUTER. FACEBOOK. TWITTER. EMAILLLLLLSSSSSSSSS. NETWORKING. BRAINSTORMING. PLAYLIST MAKING.... Whoa!!! 11:45? How did THAT happen? Ok, sleep. Wait, my laundry is still in the dryer. EFF. Ok, laundry.
  • 12:09 a.m. happens and I set my alarm for 6:09 so I feel like I'll be getting 6 actual hours of sleep..................
Are you exhausted yet? Do you want to curl up in the fetal position and sleep for 15 straight hours after reading what a very typical Wednesday is like for me? I somehow got used to this after months and months of making it a norm. With 8 workouts a week, not including my own solo workouts, plus 20 hours of private clients, and not enough sleep finally caught up with me. Maintaining my reputation for having an endless amount of energy NO MATTER WHAT was even more exhausting.

I realized that it was getting more and more challenging for me to lean out for photo shoots and exercise videos. Deep down inside, I knew that my cortisol levels were elevated and my adrenals were probably fatigued. My appetite was off and I would sometimes snack even if I wasn't hungry. My hormones were out of whack and I knew that I needed to either go on vacation or press an EASY RESTART button. My next vacation was weeks away so I searched for that damn button. And I found it...

It's a 3 day cleanse and full body detox by drinking nutrient-dense powerhouse green smoothies, called the "Skinny Green Cleanse". It's made and delivered to you personally by the Raw Food Stylist, Melissa Henig. "So, what is it all about?" you ask. "I'll tell you in Melissa's own words," I say.

"I really feel people just aren't getting enough greens in their diets. Greens have so many nutrients they should have their own food group! So I created a way to cleanse and get your dose of vital greens in a 3 day cleanse.  Cleansing is important to do as regular maintenance on your body.  You shower daily right? We wash away daily the dirt, germs, odors and keep the outside clean. Think about what is built up on the inside from years of over eating processed, fatty, dead foods.  Cleansing and not eating past 6pm is the most effective way to to clean the build up of toxins and waste.  Plus you really have to practice self control and discipline when not eating for 3 days, just drinking. After the cleanse you feel and look amazing, lighter, fresher.  You have a sense of accomplishment and just feel sexier!  You may lose a few pounds and have tons of energy due to your giving your body and organs a rest from digesting for 3 days.  Plus the amounts of greens is so cleansing to the blood.  The dark greens are loaded with chlorophyll, which is the "blood" of all the plant life. Add greens to your diet daily and receive age-extending nutrients.  Go Green or Go Home.  Drink you way to REAL health!"

Every morning, she would deliver 96 ounces (divided between 4 jars) of this magical potion in a cooler with a bag of cucumber slices and celery sticks to much on if I got ravenous. What are the ingredients? Well it varies. Each jar has different components and for specific times of the day. I can't give away her recipe!

How doable was it? Well, I shamelessly carried a jar with me if I was out and about. I even brought my juice and veggie snacks with me to the movie theater and enjoyed that while my date drank Sprite and ate Sour Jacks and Milk Duds. True story. Day one was interesting (because I was so used to eating out of habit, more than actual hunger) and it was a true test of my mental power. I worked out that day and surprisingly had tons of energy. I was putting vital nutrients in my bod all day (unlike the stupid Master Cleanse). That night I went to sleep at a decent hour and got at least 8 hours of sleep. That was AMAZING!

I felt great on day 2 and even considered doing it for longer than just 3 days. I did the Santa Monica stairs with my team of Agents on a Mission that day and I still was amazed by how much energy I had. I went to bed at a decent hour and woke up the next day feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Day 3 was yesterday and I got through it just fine. It was my day off so I stayed home and relaxed by candlelight while it poured rain outside. I meditated and allowed myself to do NOTHING. Absolutely NOTHING. I checked in with myself and made note of how I was feeling.

  • Lighter
  • Cleaner
  • Rested
  • Rejuvenated
  • Balanced
  • Healthy
  • Empowered
I never weigh myself so I don't know how many pounds I lost. I was so hydrated that I wound up losing a lot of water weight. I can see more definition in my muscles and my skin is clearer. My energy levels are through the roof. Today is the first day of eating solid food again but I have NO sugar cravings or a desire to eat until I am full. I am only wanting reasonably sized portions and my insulin levels have lowered!!! I feel like I am starting over and that I did a mini retreat in my own home. I would recommend this to just about anyone and I encourage you to check out Melissa's website to learn more about how you can press the "EASY RESTART" button. I'm so happy I did! Your health should come first. That was a lesson I relearned throughout this 3 day experiment.

I'm back, kids. Auntie Jenna is BACK to feeling BIONIC. Within DAYS I have set up new goals and boundaries for myself. I have created a computer cut-off time in the evening so I can get to bed at a decent hour from here on out. You owe it to yourself to give this a try. I wouldn't lead you in the wrong direction. IT'S OFFICIAL! THE "SKINNY GREEN CLEANSE" GETS THE "MISSION POSSIBLE™ LIFESTYLE" STAMP OF APPROVAL!
